The instructions for pick up

The instructions for pick up should have said to call the staff for a pick up as it was a long walk in the heat and poorly sign posted. When we got there they said we should have called them for a lift!

Location information for Rome Ciampino Airport

Rome Ciampino Airport is one of the Italian capital's main commercial airports. It's located 12kms from downtown Rome, just outside the Greater Ring Road (GRA). Normally, driving into downtown Rome is not recommended, especially for the inexperienced driver. However, given that Ciampino is so near the ring road, car rental in Ciampino Airport could be a decent choice for many.

Ciampino Airport was formerly Rome's main airport. However, the construction of the modern Fiumicino in 1960 relegated Ciampino to minor status. Nowadays, Ciampino is a Ryanair hub. Although there are a smaller number of routes operated by Easyjet and Wizz Air.

US travelers might find useful connections to Ciampino from Dublin, London-Gatwick and Madrid, among others. All these routes are operated by Ryanair. Alternatively, Easyjet fly here from Paris-Orly. Both these airlines are renowned for their cheap tickets and no-frills service.

On arrival, travelers going to downtown Rome might want to take a bus to Rome's Termini station. There is no train station at Ciampino, but travelers can easily transfer by bus to Anagnina metro stop, or to Ciampino train station. Travelers looking for car hire in Ciampino Airport can take a shuttle bus to the appropriate offices.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?
