Avoid the hassle of bargaining for taxis by getting car hire in Essaouira Downtown. From your accommodation you can drive to the beach which offers a variety of activities including water sports such as kite surfing and windsurfing. The best regions for water sport enthusiasts are Essaouira Bay and Cape Sim. There are shops close to the beachfront where you can rent equipment. Alternatively just relax on the beach and soak up the sun.

An interesting place to explore is the Medina which is a walled city. Cars are not allowed in this area but you can park outside and travel on foot or get a carriage ride. Sample the local food and try the seafood dishes as fishermen provide fresh produce to the restaurants. You can get your fish cooked in the small stalls located in the market area.

There are a variety of local shops in the town and the region is known for quality woodwork. Items such as carved boxes and chessboards are a good buy as they are beautifully designed and sold at reasonable prices. After a day of shopping use cheap car hire in Essaouira Downtown in order to transport your goods to your hotel.

If you are using car rental in Essaouira Downtown you can drive to Marrakech which will only take approximately 3 hours. An option for a daytrip is Diabat which is a town close to Essaouira Downtown. There are rumors that famous musicians spent time here. It is best to go here early in the morning.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver.
