Location information for Pissouri

Pissouri is a village in Cyprus sitting between the cities of Paphos and Limassol. With an administrative area that is third largest in its district, Pissouri is located about 90 minutes away from the Limassol city center when using a car hire at Pissouri.

Pissouri has two distinct communities: the Village Area and the Bay Area. The main settlement in Pissouri is actually closer to the Bay Area and is built upon the side of a hill. With a cheap car hire at Pissouri, the main settlement is situated less than five minutes away from Cape Aspro.

Of the residents in Pissouri, only about half are native Cypriots. The rest of the population are foreigners, mainly of British origin. Tourists also visit the village. Aside from excellent waters, Pissouri also has a number of shops, bars, and restaurants that can be checked out.

For places of interest, Pissouri mainly features churches. Get a car rental at Pissouri and you can easily check out the Church of Apostle Andrea, a Gothic-styled church first built in 1883. Other churches in the area include: Saint Spyridonas, Saint Mauritius, Saint Alexandros, Prophet Elias, and Saint George.

Pissouri is part of the Limassol District, one of the six districts in Cyprus. The village has a population of about over a thousand, made up of both residents and tourists. Pissouri got its name from “pissa”, a Greek word for the skin sap of pine trees extensively extracted in the past in the area.
