Bergerac is a commune part of the Dordogne Department in the southwestern areas of France. Many unfamiliar with the town may be familiar though with Cyrano de Bergerac, the famous subject of a play by Edmond Rostand of the same name. While he takes after town's name, the actual Cyrano never stepped foot in Bergerac.

Like many towns in France, Bergerac is easily explored with a car hire at Bergerac Downtown. With one though, you not only get around town easily but you can also just as easily explore the areas surrounding Bergerac. Before checking out other attractions though, make sure to visit first the Arboretum de Podestat in Bergerac.

A cheap car hire at Bergerac Downtown can also easily let you get to the various educational institutions in town. These include the Lycee Maine de Biran, the town's main highschool, and the private schools Institution Sainte Marthe-Saint Front, Lycee Profesionelle de l'Alba, and Lycee Jean Capelle.

As the town is part of a region mainly known for its wines, Bergerac also offers some of the best variants in Bordeaux. Bergerac is close to the Dordogne River so the town enjoys excellent irrigation and drainage.

The town also thrives on tobacco and shows the importance of this produce by featuring a tobacco museum. You can easily get to the tobacco museum with a car rental at Bergerac Downtown. Ironically, the museum prohibits smoking within the premises.
