Although terminal 1 was indicated on the booking. The rental was booked out of terminal 2. After waiting for 90 mins at terminal 1 we had to then go to terminal 2 to collect the car

Location information for Laon

Laon is the capital of the department of Aisne in Picardy in the northern areas of France. A hilly district rising above the plains of Picardy, Laon can easily be explored with a car hire at Laon Downtown. A lot of the buildings in the city are historic, preserved though many events have happened.

Today, the city of Laon is very modern, featuring the world's only fully automated system of municipal cable cars. Called the Poma 2000, the system links the lower town with the upper areas, utilizing three stations. Aside from the Poma 2000, a cheap car hire at Laon Downtown is also very convenient to use in exploring the city.

With a car rental at Laon Downtown, you can easily check out the many medieval buildings in the city. The Cathedral Notre-Dame of Laon is the most important one, dating as far back as the 12th or 13th centuries. The cathedral features a chapter house, cloister, and palace, as well as a gothic chapel.

Dating mid-12th century, the Church of St. Martin, on the other hand, houses old abbey buildings that were converted into hospitals. The Laon Museum has collection of paintings and sculptures and a garden where a Templars chapel is located. The church in the Vaux suburb is also a historic structure from between the 11th and 12th centuries.

Aisne is one of the first 83 departments that were created around the time of the French Revolution, founded from parts of Champagne, Picardie, and Ile-de-France. The department borders Belgium and the Ardennes Forest.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
