Location information for Clermont Station

Clermont Ferrand is the capital of the region of Auvergne. It features a metropolitan area that can easily be explored with a car hire at Clermont-Ferrand Rail Station but it also features a terrain famous for extinct volcanoes. These extinct volcanoes form a ring around the city, including Puy-de-Dome, the highest in the ring. Puy-de-Dome is located about 20 minutes away from the Clermont Ferrand center.

Get cheap car hire at Clermont Ferrand Rail Station and you can easily explore the city, one of the few with the distinction of being the oldest in the country. However, Clermont Ferrand was made up of two sides in the past as a result of the rift between the counts of Auvergne and the Pope Urban II. The city is still distinctly split into districts but has definitely reunited.

The best way still to get around France is by train. The Clermont Ferrand Rail Station, for instance, offers several trips daily to Paris. By train, it'll take you about three and a half hours to reach the capital. Consequently, the station is a great way to get into Clermont Ferrand. Once in the city, you can easily get a car rental at Clermont Ferrand Rail Station to start exploring.

Once in Clermont Ferrand, you can check out Place de Jaude for the statue of Vercingetorix, a celebrated French soldier during the Gaillic Wars. You can also visit the Cathedrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, the Puy-de-Dome, La Fontaine d'Amboise, Notre-Dame-du-Port, Parc Montjuzet, and Le Musee Roger-Quilliot.

When you're done with the sights, don't forget to check out the old streets in the old town area where you'll find little boutiques and restaurants to sample local fare. The city's old town also has small parks ideal for picnics.
