Iceland's biggest airport and main international air travel gateway is the Keflavik International Airport and it is situated about 2 miles west of the city of Keflavik. Most international flights to Iceland land in this airport with two runways and a territory measuring 9.7 square miles.

Iceland Express and Icelandair are the two major air carriers serving the airport. Unlike other international airports, it does not handle domestic flights, which is the responsibility of the Reykjavik Airport located 31 miles from it. The Keflavik Airport only has one passenger terminal.
