The instructions for pick up

The instructions for pick up should have said to call the staff for a pick up as it was a long walk in the heat and poorly sign posted. When we got there they said we should have called them for a lift!

Having some transport available in this attractive part of Umbria is important as there is precious little in the way of public transport around. Located almost in the center of the province, collecting a car rental in Foligno Downtown is one of the very first things to do.

Getting to the town can be done by taking a train from Rome, or from the nearest large airport in Perugio. Its about 30 minutes from Foligno and is now being used by low cost carriers running services from Milan and the UK.

Above all this is a traditional part of Italy, full of festivals, Italian culture and lovely old towns which epitomize the rural lifestyle in this part of the country. The province is similar to Tuscany, but has fewer tourist areas which make it the kind of place where travelers can discover the real Italy.

In Foligno the style is that of the past centuries which shows up in the street architecture, the churches and the old Piazzas. The Piazza da Repubilica is central to all that happens in the old part of town. The car hire in Foligno Downtown may not be needed here, but for touring around the hills of Foligno and Umbria it most certainly will.

Another fine aspect of the Umbrian province is the accommodation available, especially out in the smaller towns. Touring with the cheap car hire in Foligno Downtown will reveal places which are otherwise difficult to get to. However on of the most interesting places to stay is right in the centre of town, where a renovated old palace awaits.

What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
