Location information for Fez

Fes is located in Morocco and is renowned for it's walled city. It is an example of Islamic civilization and the old city is well preserved. The walled Medina is an interesting place to explore and get lost down the alleyways. If you are using car hire in Fes Downtown park outside and travel the area on foot or get a carriage.

You can reach the city using a variety of different airlines including Ryanair and Royal Air Morocco. The airport is situated 15 kilometers from the city and a transport option is cheap car hire in Fes Downtown. This is an easy way to reach your hotel with all your luggage.

The popular street in the Medina is Talaa Kbira which goes from Karaouiyne Mosque to the center of the area. It is a good idea to buy a map of the walled city in order to find all the best sites. This is a cheap area with colorful shops and food stores selling local cuisine.

While in Fes Downtown you can also visit a tannery which you can see by paying your guide a small fee. Other sites include the Bou Inania Madersa which dates back to the 14th century. The Merenid Tombs can be fount close to the Merenid Hotel.

From the city Casablanca can be reached by car rental in Fes Downtown which is only a four hour drive. The highway operates by toll and is in good condition, making for an easy and comfortable drive.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
