Location information for Amstelveen

On the outskirts of Amsterdam, next to Schipol airport is the area of Amstelveen. It is a suburb of the capital and not often visited by tourists, though it does have a few good hotels for those who wish to stay close to the airport, and it also has fast links into the city.

If you choose to stay in this calm suburb, cheap car hire in Amstelveen Downtown is ideal for exploring the area and for getting in and out of Amsterdam's centre. Though it is a suburb, it seems like its own town and has a number of things to see and do.

When in Amstelveen you'll find a number of interesting attractions to visit. The Cobra Museum is one of the most popular, and houses many interesting works of art from three art museums of the 40s and 50s, while the Museum of Jan van der Togt houses many pieces of glass art.

Head north into the centre of Amsterdam with car rental in Amstelveen Downtown to enjoy the attractions here. The famous floating market is in the city and it is here that you can buy flower bulbs and flowers including the iconic tulip. Also, take a relaxing boat ride along the famous waterways.

Drive west to the pretty town of Haarlem with the car hire in Amstelveen Downtown to see such typical Dutch architecture as the reconstructed De Adriaan Windmill, the beautiful Cathedral of Haarlem, and the historical Public Library. Haarlem is also famous for having the oldest museum in the country, and for its annual festivals.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

Our rates are all-inclusive. Our reservation department will inform you in advance should additional costs apply. You can always cancel your booking free of charge if you do not agree (this must be done at least 48 hours prior to the start of the car hire period).

 What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.

 What is a worry-free label?

Only rental companies with a high level of customer satisfaction are eligible to be included in our Worry-Free selection. This rate includes excess cover and unlimited kilometres.  How can I change or cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation through "My Account". We recommend contacting us by phone if your changes to your booking or cancellation takes place at short notice (48 hours or less).

 When will I get a confirmation of my booking?

Most reservations will receive confirmation within minutes after payment takes place. We recommend contacting our Booking Department for last minute reservations (pick-up within 48 hours).
