Monte Gordo is a relative newcomer to the tourist scene, having developed from an Algarve fishing village into the present day mix of hotels, bars, restaurants and nightlife spots due to its proximity to pretty beaches and warm seas year-round. The beach here is the largest on the Algarve coastline and has parking for a car rental in Monte Gordo downtown.

Set near the mouth of the River Guardiana, the huge beach boasts miles of golden sands and plenty of water sports opportunities. Golf courses have also been established, with fairways overlooking the ocean at Castro Mari, and Vila Real de Santo Antonio. The former fishing village turned holiday destination even has a casino.

The vast beach is the centre for most activities, with its sands backed by a plethora of seafood restaurants and bars, pulling in the crowds by day and night. Nightlife in Monte Gordo offers a lively mix of discos, music bars, folk dancing evenings and the glitzy Monte Gordo casino with its slot machines, roulette, blackjack and poker.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.
