What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Are there any additional costs?

Our rates are all-inclusive. Our reservation department will inform you in advance should additional costs apply. You can always cancel your booking free of charge if you do not agree (this must be done at least 48 hours prior to the start of the car hire period).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.

Terrible. I booked about 6 times. E Rey time my credit card failed. It must have been a problem with the website on a Saturday morning. I almost gave up but tried after several hours. Experience was good. O was hesitant to rent from dollar but it was fine.

Everything was very straightforward, I was asked to buy additional insurance by Avis for breakdown etc, so it would have been useful to understand this wasn't included in the quoted price - if it was stated it wasn't obvious. It would be useful for you or the rental companies to provide more information on how pick up and drop offs work at the specific airports. Finding the drop off place a San Francisco was not great, as the address stated and google maps puts them in slightly different places - and the attendant joked that finding the garage wasn't easy.

San Juan is the capital of Puerto Rico and is most well-known for its beautiful harbor. In addition, there is an interesting historical district which should appeal to those who would like to learn more about Puerto Rican culture. Many travelers fly here, arriving at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. The airport is around 14kms from downtown San Juan.

All of the major US airlines operate flights to San Juan. Many of them add extra charters to the schedule during peak season. On arrival, the most efficient way to get to downtown San Juan is with cheap car rental in San Juan Airport. Buses are available, but tend to get crowded at certain times of the day.

Three US airlines operating out of Luis Muñoz Marín have their own separate ticketing area, inside the single terminal building. They are American Airlines, Delta Airlines and Continental Airlines. All other airlines here are given over to a fourth communal ticketing area. However, the biggest airline here is American Eagle.

Travelers will find driving in Puerto Rico challenging. Traffic jams are common, while local drivers do not always show consideration. In addition, some hotels charge for parking. However, given the rampant overcharging by Puerto Rican taxi drivers, car rental in San Juan Airport is still the best option.

Beach lovers should make sure that they visit the beaches at Isla Verde. Isla Verde is just 15 minutes from downtown with car rental in San Juan Airport. Farther afield, visitors can drive on past Isla Verde, to the nature reserve at Fajardo. It's about 60kms from downtown San Juan.
