Known as the pearl of the Garden Route, Knysna is located on the southeast coast of South Africa between the Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean. Famous for its delicious seafood, it is also home to the Knysna forest elephant. Tourists of all ages can enjoy this beautiful diverse town.

You can arrive in Knysna by air, bus or car. The closest airport is in George, and Cape Town's international airport is just 500 kilometers away. As well, many buses travel along the Garden Route from Cape Town. Once arriving, the best way to travel is by car rental in Knysna Downtown.

This seaside destination has many guesthouses, eateries and bars. In the high season expect to pay hefty prices, however the year-round climate allows for visits in the low season, and you can get some great bargains. If you arrange for car rental in Knysna Downtown there are options outside of the city.

There are many things to do throughout the city to keep all occupied and happy. Visit the Knysna Elephant Park and get close to an African elephant, take a boat ride along the lagoon or go shopping along the waterfront. Also worthwhile are the scenic surrounding hillside Reserves and forests.
