Located on the northwest coast of Koh Phuket is an international airport which handles around over 10 million passengers each year. Flights arrive here from all over the world, including from cities such as Sydney, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Doha, Bangkok and London. Car rental in Phuket Airport is popular with tourists due to the fact that taxis are expensive compared to other parts of Thailand. Using a rental car allows you to see the hidden treasures of Phuket Island, which other tourists might not get the chance to see. It takes around 40 minutes to get to Patong, the most popular area of the island, and around 70 minutes to get to the south of the island, Rawai.

The airport is fairly small and only has a few shops, cafés and a small duty free area. Cheap car rental in Phuket Airport vehicles can be dropped off at the doors of the single terminal, although the car rental offices are across the road and five minute walk away.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
