The Welsh city of Swansea sits near the Gower Peninsula, almost mid way between the capital at Cardiff and the cost of Pembrokesrental. As such it is a good location for touring the region using a car rental in Swansea Downtown. The nearest airport for Swansea is the international facility in Cardiff and this is conveniently located for travel to its neighbor to the west.

Cardiff is connected on the domestic air network to locations such as Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle and Glasgow. Its prime international service is to Amsterdam with the regional KLM – North West airlines operating to Amsterdam Schipol, which connects with New York, Chicago, Washington and Baltimore.

Much of this part of South Wales has been strongly associated tot the coal mining industry and although still active mines in operation it has declined quite steadily over the past decades. As a tourist attraction there are mine tours which can be reached having booked a cheap car rental in Swansea Downtown.

Another attraction here is the Maritime Museum which highlights the time when Swansea was a major trading port on the Severn Estuary. One of the world's most famous playwrights was born in Swansea and that was Dylan Thomas, so there is a museum dedicated to the work of this outstanding scribe.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
